18. textile experimentation

experimentation based on techniques learnt in Suzie's class, using different materials and colour combination appropriate to project.

drawn thread work x beading
i used a linen like fabric and took the threads on the waft out leaving the weft threads which was rather delicate and it was really smooth then used an embroidery thread to tie the weft threads in bunches, adding a plastic bead in between to add interest but it wasnt really perfect since i guess it was a problem with the fabric itself being quite frail and those beads are a wee bit awkward on their own?

tone on tone puffy "velvet" on thin cotton fabric, was done with a "puffy paint pen i purchased and drew it on a cotton fabric then steam ironed it to raise the puff. its quite a fun method but the puff slowly goes off in tiny bits which isnt good cuz a garment can getrather messy after wash and all

boucle yarns on tulle- i wanted to try something transparent and then add some texture and coverage on top of it

i think it was a good experiment though the materials might not be appropriate but it kind of works..
